Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device, 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a black pheon surmounted by two gold lightning flashes in pile; all enclosed by a red scroll doubled and inscribed 'INTEGRITY AND DETERMINATION" in gold letters.

Symbolism
Buff/gold and scarlet are the colors traditionally used by Support units. The pheon and lightning flashes symbolize the large number of manufacturers in Moreno Valley, the location of the unit and California's fastest growing city. The black pheon represents the steel and aluminum producing companies, while the lightning flashes denote the electronic and aerospace companies in the area.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 Oct 1999.
